Arts and Crafts--Home Edition.

Oh spring break how you distract me.
Sorry lovelies, Spring Break has been a crazy one (if you could call it a break)!

Thursday last week Wendy and Ryan's mom (Jane) came into town! And we had such a great week!
Basically we were running around like crazy people all week.
We did get a ton done on the house though!
Which is way too exciting for me to even handle.

I cannot wait until I actually get to live there.
(But I am positive it will be worth the wait!)

I will get some pictures of what we did and post them by the end of the weekend, promise!
(Maybe I shouldn't say I promise... but I will try really really hard! deal?)

In light of the joy of homemaking, I want to share some of the projects I am absolutely dying to do for the house. Let me know what you think?

One:

Wall-sized calendar!
I think we could make this fit in our office...
Maybe no so big... But seriously how awesome is this?
Learn how here!

Two:

Window Shutter card holder!
Right up my alley.
Learn about it here!

Three:

Vintage Necklace as curtain tie.
What? That's not girly at all... right?

Four:

Mantle amazingness.
Yes we have a mantle and fireplace (which makes me really really really happy)
And I think any of these ideas are adorable.
Have a favorite?

Five:

Inspiration Board.
How many times have I shared these?
I think it's time I get one!
Matt might like it too?

Six:

Handmade Huston.
Would it be weird to make this now even though we aren't married?
Don't care, doing it :]

Seven:

Homemade File Cabinet:
Make it out of a chest.
Please please please.
Check it out here!

Eight:

White on white.
Matt and I are going for a strictly black and white and gray bedroom.
I think this would look so good in it!
The funny part is I could totally make this...
Instead of paying $328 for the one pictured.
Yikes!

These are just a few of the many artsy things I am dying to do!

Homemaking is going to be the best!
Look for a home update soon!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

miss you,
xo/Austin

Hello, Pinteresting Tuesday.

So believe it or not, but it's sometimes difficult to come up with enough awesomeness to fill every Pinteresting Tuesday.

Or maybe I am just too critical of what really makes the cut.

Either way we could say I have been a bum the past few weeks when it comes to Pinteresting Tuesday updates.

Oh well. That's in the past.

One:

Yes please.
Two:

For all those jeans or jean shorts that don't fit well anymore or the ones that are falling apart... this is the cutest way to fix that problem! Just sew some lace to them (I say that like I know how to sew...)
Three:

Tell me you don't want to know how to pack this much into a carry-on bag... This is from a flight attendant who tells you exactly that. This could save me so much money.
Four:

This makes me want to live on a lake just so we could do this in the summer.
And it also kind of reminds me of Parent Trap. (anyone?)
Five:

For you friends who are on Pinterest have you seen the posts saying: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?"
This is my retort to that.
:]

I've missed you guys.
What has been going on in your lives?
I'll try to catch y'all up this week on my life here in the exciting state of Virginia.

Until then avoir,
xo/Austin

Isn't Life Pinteresting?

Pinteresting Tuesday! Only a day late.
One:

You may not know of my obsession with Pride and Prejudice... But this is just a little sneak peak. I love that movie.

Two:

I am kind of obsessed with this idea. You make a shadow box with a picture of what you are saving for.. and you use it as a piggy bank to save money toward that thing/place! Very much love this.

Three:

You make a key chain of the year you get married, the year your kids are born, and any other year you want to memorialize. How cute is this? Now I wonder how hard drilling a hole in a penny could be?

Four:

SO we know how much I love inspiration boards... And this is a WEDDING one. Meant for me to make.

Five:

If you don't laugh at this you're crazy. This is an awesome prank if you ask me. Only how long could this take to finish! Ha!

Have a Pinteresting Wednesday!

Happy Hump Day,
xo/Austin

It's Pinteresting Tuesday!

9 more days.
4 more finals.
1 more day of classes.
The end of the semester is in sight!

You know what today is...
(or maybe you don't read my blog every week...)

...actually, you probably don't.

So maybe you don't know what today is...

That's okay though... Cause you know I'm going to tell you.
Are you ready?
Sit down, it's pretty exciting...

Okay okay fine.. I'll just tell you.

It's Pinteresting Tuesday!
{did I talk it up more than I should have..?}

Oh well! Happy Tuesday loves.

One:

I think everyone has nerdy tendencies. Mine come out (...more than normal... because they come out a lot.) when I see, or am doing crafts. Sometimes I wish people liked nerdy things as much as I do, so I could a) make adorable necklaces like this for them, and b) so they would make them for me. Mark my words, I will make this and if you are the lucky one to get it... you better be thankful!

Two:

Apparently today is my nerdy day. I am the kind of person who would think this is really cool. And I do. Only now I can't make one.. because I just showed all of you... and it would be pointless because it's no longer a secret. Me and my big mouth.

Three:

Hey, why slow down on the nerdiness right now? Yes, I think these are awesome. I want kids just so I can make these right now. (Which is why I don't need kids right now.. because that's not a good enough reason.)

Four:

Have I told you that I'm obsessed with all things "husband and wife?"

Five:

Recently found on Pinterest that coconut milk helps hair grow long! I am dying for my hair to grow by the wedding day! I just may have to try this. I'll let you know how research goes!

Six:

I love this so much.

Seven:

I'm sorry, I'm sorry I just had to. I'm really not into swearing, but come on! This is hilarious. I do not know anything funnier than watching someone fall... and this caught it mid face-plant. Priceless.

How is the week treating you?

Question: Do you have any hair growth secrets you know about?!
Question: When do your secret nerdy tendencies come out?

With Love,
xo/Austin

Pinteresting Tuesday.

Holy cow, it's already Tuesday again?

It's funny how the weeks seem to fly by... only not while I'm in class!

What Pinterested me this week?

One:

Something I am kind of in love with (and always have been) is claw foot bath tubs. I love them. If you haven't caught on by now I am the ultimate vintage anything junkie. I love old school bath tubs. I don't think I would want it to be this turquoise color (only because I will most likely have too much of this color in my home as is). Maybe peach or just white with gold? Or better yet peach and white and gold. Yes, that's it.

Two:

Like I have previously mentioned, I love turquoise. I know I of all people am not one to be wanting another ring (considering mine is PERFECT) but I do love these aqua diamonds! I am really loving the vintage feel of these. I feel like it is a good way to go for a different take on a timeless colored ring.

Three:

Um am I the only one who loves these? How easy and so cute! I have yet to make an inspiration board collage, but when I scrounge up the cash to do that, these will have to be on it. Maybe glue pins to the back so I can push them into cork board and clip pictures and other good things in it? Love the idea. If I get around to doing it, I will be sure to get a picture!

Four:

It really is fall time now isn't it? It makes me want to drink hot tea, curl up on a cozy couch by a fire with these socks on! They're like slippers and socks. Oh the joys of fall and winter time. The only good part about leaving the summer is the simple pleasures of cold, brisk weather. Also, the awesome part about being in Virginia for fall time is that the leaves actually change color! Back home there are so many pine needles that it really doesn't seem to change seasons. The color change is something everyone has to experience!

Five:
Amen to that. This is hilarious. I encourage you to really look at the face of the little girl. Because it doesn't get much better than that. So if you see that running, wave and say hello because it is most likely me! ;]

What Pinterested you this week? Any of the same things that Pinterested me? Tell me about it!

Love you all,
xo/Austin

Wedding Update for the Weekend!

My bridesmaids have been selected!

I mentioned last week that I made a fun project in order to ask them, and here it is.

I borrowed the idea from Bethany at Rinse. Repeat.  {By borrowed I mean I took it and don't plan on giving it back!}

These were the project. {above is hers}.

The plan with the box is paint the box the colors of your wedding day, pop the question on the box, and fill the box with wedding excitement to give them an idea of what the wedding will be like, why you chose them, and of course what the dress situation is going to be.

{above: my boxes}

In my boxes I included an array of pictures I found on the many wedding blogs and Pinterest of course that I though gave the right idea of the feel we were going for for our wedding day.

Some of the pictures I included in the box:

I want the girls to be able to pick dresses that they like and that they would be willing to spend money on. I don't want them to get stuck with a dress they hate and have to buy because that's just what I say. I included some of these pictures to explain what I was thinking for dresses and for the theme, and this was one of the dresses I think is really cute for an example for them to go off of.

This was to show what we were kind of thinking for the guys. We're not at all set on the men yet, so I also asked my girls for their input!

This picture is to kind of show them what I am thinking with mismatched dresses! I don't want my wedding to be all uniform, I want them to be able to pick the color and style of dress that flatters them. (Because lets be honest, not everyone can pull off coral)

This is another way to show them the mismatched idea!

This was to show them kind of the color scheme. Also I think you can tell so much about a wedding simply from the bouquet. This to me says vintage, rustic wedding!

So those were some of the pictures I included in the boxes.

I also included a hand written note to each of them explaining why I chose them for what role.

Bethany typed out different parts of the wedding that her girls might be curious about and I thought that was a great idea, so I did the same.

A uniform, why we chose them.
I made one for the dress.
The details.
What their "Requirements" are.

I also included a bliss dark chocolate piece to represent the "bliss" we were all to experience through our wedding day! ;]

And I included large hole punched dots from paint chips of the colors we are thinking of our big day.

It was so hard to pick only 5 girls for my wedding party, and the last thing I wanted to do was hurt anyone's feelings. I am so close to so many people, and I just had to choose the 5 that made the most sense for Matt and I for our wedding.

I am so thankful to have so many amazing girl friends, and I love that we get to experience our wedding day with all of them whether or not they are in the wedding party!

Matt has chosen the guys too, so I guess we officially have a wedding party! {Not that our wedding was ever not going to be a party ;]}

So just another thing to mark off the list!

I love planning for our wedding, and I love that I have so much help from so many people!

Thank you all who are helping!

Love you so,
xo|Austin
